Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time mentor Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.
This represents his initial championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from spring of 2023.
Victory also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.
The player's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on court had caused some to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved service.
He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The pair swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.
He defended 4 early break points in a close final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
