Peacemaker Season 2 Last Episode to Resolve Significant Viewer Grievance, James Gunn Confirms

While audience feedback for Peacemaker the latest season has been largely positive, with fans and critics applauding the performances and storyline—despite the fact that the big twist in the seventh installment didn't come as a surprise—a particular criticism has intensified as the season continues: decreasing runtime lengths.

Over the past few episodes, audience members have voiced frustration over the noticeably shorter episode lengths this season, and indeed, the episodes have been progressively briefer. Episode 7, titled “Like a Keith in the Night,” lasted only 28 minutes (excluding the summary, title sequence, and closing credits), marking the briefest installment yet.

Fans will be pleased to learn next week's episode is nearly an hour in length.

Peacemaker showrunner and DC Universe head James Gunn posted on Threads, replying to a disappointed fan.

Although this is encouraging, it remains unclear what portion of the runtime will be brand-new content, uncluttered by intro and outro segments, or summaries of past episodes. However, even if the episode includes all the previously mentioned non-essential content, that would still allow for between 45 and 50 minutes for the finale, which is a significant improvement after episode 7.

The director earlier teased that the last episode would not only wrap up Peacemaker but also provide clues towards the direction the broader DC Universe as a whole will be moving and serve as a kind of precursor for the next Superman movie. Considering the cameo of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from episode 6, fans expect a juicy cameo to cap off the show.

The show's finale, the eighth episode, is titled "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to see if fans' suspicions are confirmed.
