Pressure Won't Affect Me, Says Confident Postecoglou

Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou maintains that external scrutiny regarding his role will not influence his methodology.

The team remains without a victory in his initial half-dozen matches since the coach took over from Nuno Espirito Santo at the City Ground.

A section of Forest supporters chanted, "you're getting sacked in the morning", towards the ex- Tottenham and Celtic manager following Thursday's 3-2 European loss at their ground to Midtjylland.

Postecoglou, though, stated that the Europa League trophy he won at Tottenham the previous campaign, prior to being sacked in the off-season, was proof he does not let pressure to affect his coaching.

"It doesn't enter my head," he added. "My responsibility lies in making sure this team advances and reaches a position where it can challenge for titles," said Postecoglou.

"If I start setting deadlines to that or worry about what is occurring soon then I am not performing the role I have been assigned.

"I believe it is beneficial to anyone. At the end of the day, I have to focus on the environment, the practice sessions, the way we play, and as I said last night, I am still very, very strong in my belief that we are not too far away.

"Put it this way - I knew I was getting sacked at Tottenham about three or four months before I did, but that didn't prevent me from winning something."

Career History

The 60-year-old moved to Spurs from Celtic in 2023 and fans at first warmed to the Australian for his attacking style of play, with the London club ending up fifth in the Premier League during his debut campaign.

Postecoglou's second term was challenging as Spurs finished fourth from bottom in the standings. He did, however, lead the club to their first trophy in nearly two decades as they beat Manchester United in the European final.
